My name is Nate Tremain, owner and operator of Tremain's Lawn & Landscape located in Lawrenceburg, IN. My grandparents lovingly told me from a young age I would be a writer one day. When I realized in our new and improved world of technology that everyone has a platform, I figured why not now. This being my first ever blog post, I figured I better introduce myself and my business. To do that, I'm going to give a brief history of how Tremain's came to be.
My father has been a next level workaholic from as far back as I can remember. He started me before 10 years old working weekends running a trimmer for his side lawn care business. He regularly hit 80-90 hours weekly, and still does while pushing almost 60. Many summers were spent mowing grass through my teenage years, eventually leading to working with multiple different local lawn care companies by 18 years of age. Upon graduation, Tremain's Lawn Care was born out of a desire to be my own boss at a young age. Who wouldn't want that at such a young age!
My early 20's found me going in multiple directions and unsure what I wanted out of life or what I wanted to do with mine. This lack of direction led to working for a few more companies in the Cincinnati area that really taught me the fine points of the Green Industry. To that point my experience had been vast, but these years of refined and focused training were very much needed in order to start the Tremain's journey in 2016.
Spring 2016 saw the beginning of Tremain's. That first season we focused almost solely on building our lawn care client base, which we did very well fortunately. My good friend Scott Stuckey was essential to this 1st year growth, and I give credit where credit is due my friend! Growth came so fast that 90+ hr weeks quickly became the norm. Unlike my father however, I am not built mentally to keep that up long-term. I decided it best to quit the best job I had ever had, by far, to concentrate solely on this dream and journey that we had started. I worked a full-time job as a delivery driver until early afternoon and then worked on my business until dark, for the rest of that season. 2016 was an incredibly good 1st year in business that I am very thankful for!
The 2017-2019 seasons all brought forth immense growth. While my field experience prior was very beneficial in starting and initially building the business, a lot of tough business lessons have been learned. Systems were not in place to take on the growth we experienced so quickly, therefore unfortunately making customer service and product quality at times slip below the Tremain's standard of quality. All of these lessons learned in these years of business culminated in a refocusing of sorts for the 2020 season.
The 2020 season for Tremain's is a refocusing year on the foundational systems needed for future growth, on customer service and customer relationships, and to dense up our target areas of business. We are very excited to implement this different strategy for us this season, and excited about what it means for our future and for our customers!
